Bucksport, ME City Guides

1. Bucksport Golf Club

City: Bucksport, ME
Category: Golf
Telephone: (207) 469-7612
Address: Route 46

Description: Bucksport bills itself as Maine’s longest nine-hole course, and if it isn’t, it must be close—hole 5 alone is a 502-yarder. The facility includes a pro shop, a snack bar, a driving range, cart and club rental, and two chipping greens. Open from mid-April through September, you can tee off as early as 7 a.m., and tee times are not usually necessary.

2. Macleod’S Restaurant

City: Bucksport, ME
Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (207) 469-3963
Address: Main St.

Description: There are simply not a lot of dining options in Bucksport—this is the tried-and-true place. Family comfort foods, heavy on the seafood, are what make up the long menu. Choose from among MacLeod’s own baked meat loaf, the baked scallop strudel, or the grilled lemon chicken. Everyone in town goes here, sometimes several days a week. Open for lunch and dinner, year-round.

3. Book Stacks

City: Bucksport, ME
Category: Shopping
Telephone: (207) 469-8992
Address: 71 Main St.

Description: Bucksport isn’t exactly a bookish town, but it certainly has a great bookstore in this place. Proprietor Andy Lacher does a bang-up job, with a good selection of new titles, a nicely juried selection of used books, and a pleasant atmosphere.
