Address: 276 Shore Rd.

Description: You have to be somewhat confident to call yourself the Grand Hotel, and this place certainly makes a statement (with a lot of gilding thrown in). Right in the thick of things in Ogunquit, between Perkins Cove and downtown, the Grand has 28 well-appointed suites from which to choose, all of them with a living room, private deck, full bath, and bedroom, and each with a fridge, VCR, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. The third-floor penthouse suite comes with a fireplace and grand-size deck, and its indoor heated pool and hot tub are fairly attractive. The underground parking garage is a good idea in a place like Ogunquit.

4. Juniper Hill Inn

City: Ogunquit, ME
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (207) 646-4501 or (800) 646-45
Address: 196 Main St.

Description: Not to be confused with the Pine Hill Inn, this Main Street hostelry is more motel than inn, but it does a good job and is within walking distance of downtown and the beach. Five whole acres of space and comfortable rooms with fridges and cable TV, a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, newspapers and coffee, and golf privileges at the Cape Neddick Country Club, a semiprivate club, are just some of the amenities. The Juniper is the recipient of a AAA Three Diamond rating, which suggests it’s better than your average motel. And it is.

6. The Morning Dove

City: Ogunquit, ME
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (207) 646-3891
Address: 13 Bourne Lane

Description: The gardens are very appealing at this big white Victorian farmhouse, which feels quiet and sedate but is within walking distance to Perkins Cove. The full breakfast is served on the porch. There are six rooms, with king- or queen-size beds topped with handmade quilts, Wi-Fi is standard, and Rachel Ray smiled on the place on Everyday a couple years back. Minimum stays are sometimes required in high summer.

7. Riverside Motel

City: Ogunquit, ME
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (207) 646-2741
Address: 50 Riverside Lane

Description: From the road, this long, low-slung carriage house-looking motel is pretty unassuming, like any other motor inn on the South Coast. But this baby backs right up to Perkins Cove, where much of the Ogunquit action goes down. You can walk from your room to the foot drawbridge the cove is famous for and enjoy the restaurants and shops without having to worry about parking, which is an absolute nightmare in these parts. There are 41 basic rooms in total, each with cable TV, Wi-Fi, and a small fridge, and many have balconies with the million-dollar view. Breakfast, included in the price of the room, is offered in the lobby. An adjacent cottage built in 1874 has four additional rooms appropriate for families or groups.

8. Sparhawk Oceanfront Resort

City: Ogunquit, ME
Category: Accommodations
Address: 85 Shore Rd.

9. Studio East Motel

City: Ogunquit, ME

Address: Main St.

Description: Clean rooms, good rates, and a great location are the appeal of this motel right on Main Street. You can walk downtown, to the beach, to restaurants, and forget about parking your car, which can be a nightmare in Ogunquit. (Hop on the trolley if you need to travel any distance.) The rooms are basic motel rooms, maybe a step up from average, and you can even get suites. All units feature private bath, cable TV, climate control, and a fridge; some come with kitchenettes. The motel is open from April through mid-December.
