Description: Cretin-Derham Hall (CDH) is one of the premier private high schools in the Twin Cities area. The school is recognized throughout the area for providing a disciplined Catholic education. CDH is also respected statewide as an athletic powerhouse, especially in football and baseball, where students almost annually compete in state championships. (Cretin is the alma mater of Hall of Famer Paul Molitor and current Minnesota Twins star Joe Mauer.) Cretin-Derham Hall’s roots date from 1871. The Brothers of the Christian Schools founded Cretin High School exclusively for young men, and in 1905 the Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet founded Derham Hall. The schools did not merge until 1987, creating a much larger coeducational Catholic high school. After all these years Catholic values remain central to the school’s academic experience. CDH inculcates in its students such values as leadership, service, diversity, and equity.
