Description: Skaggs is a 132-bed community-owned and supported health-care facility recognized by Medicare as a sole community provider. Close to 130 medical doctors are on staff, with specialties in cardiology, gynecology, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, pathology, pediatrics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pulmonary medicine, and urology, among others. Skaggs provides 24-hour emergency care at its Level III Trauma Center with a physician always on duty.Skaggs offers other services to meet the health needs of the Branson community. Skaggs Professional Home Care offers skilled home health-care services to residents of Taney and Stone Counties. The Skilled Nursing Unit cares for people who need continued recuperative care after the acute phase of hospitalization. Skaggs operates satellite clinics in Stone and Taney Counties that are staffed by physicians specializing in family medicine, infectious disease, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, and urology. They are Branson Family Medicine Clinic, Branson Neurology and Pain Center, Skaggs Family Health Clinic, Skaggs Internal Medicine Clinic, Skaggs OB/GYN Care, Skaggs Pediatric Care, and Tri-Lakes Urology, all located in Branson; Branson West Medical Care and Rehab Services in Branson West; Crane Medical Care in Crane; Forsyth Medical Care in Forsyth; and Skaggs Medical West in Kimberling City.Skaggs Health Center has been adding services since its opening in 1950 to meet the growing and diverse medical needs of tri-lakes-area residents and visitors. A $23 million, five-story outpatient medical facility opened in 2000. The 112,000-square-foot building houses a lab, radiology service, cardiac rehabilitation services, and other testing facilities. At the same time, because of the growth of the permanent population and tourism, approval was gained to increase the number of beds in the critical care unit from 8 to 14.The hospital’s helicopter service can airlift patients to Springfield and other facilities when necessary.
