Description: You could easily miss the Grand Village, but you shouldn’t. It’s tucked away next to the Grand Palace. It’s not exactly a strip mall, but a small shopping center, tastefully decorated and landscaped, conducive to wandering about in specialty shops and sitting on park benches in the miniparks on the streets. You’ll like the comfortable and casual style, fitting like an old pair of jeans and just as down-home. The Grand Village gives you shopping in style—no barns or warehouses. There’s a central clock tower, a fountain, and cobblestone streets, all slightly reminiscent of old Charleston. If you’re shopping for the home, the Grand Village has a wide assortment of perfectly quaint shops. Peter Engler’s Design Shop, which features unique work by Branson’s most renowned woodcarver, has carvings and one-of-a-kind gifts and items (see the Arts and Culture chapter). Pretty Victorian accents can be found at Mulberry Mill, (417) 332-3400. If you’re into Coca-Cola collectibles, stop in at Coke 4 U & More, (417) 336-7253, where you can find anything connected with old Coca-Cola advertising—and even get a Coke! Browse the spacious bookshelves of T. Charleston & Son Books, (417) 334-7931, Branson’s largest family bookstore. The Grand Glitz, (417) 336-7251, carries flashy fashions and is not for the conscious conservative. Even if you don’t buy, it’s fun to check it out! Kringle’s, (417) 337-5426, is Missouri’s largest Christmas store—three spacious rooms of Christmas decorations, including Department 56 collectibles. Check the Specialty Shops and the Unusual section in this chapter for more details on some of our favorites. If you tire of shopping, and it’s snack time, the Village Cafe has pastries and cappuccino, and the Hard Luck Diner, (417) 336-7217, features treats and meals. No motor traffic is permitted on the village streets, and you can wander, shop, or just relax. The Grand Village is open seven days a week from May through December, with shorter hours January through March. Call the number above for hours of operation.
