Description: This world-class zoo, which serves as an educational and recreational resource for the community, has more than 11,000 animals as well as a survival center for endangered species. Volunteers act as tour guides; teach classes at the zoo and in local schools; chair planning committees; staff fund-raising events and private parties; help the zoo’s horticulturist with planting, watering, and weeding; work the information booth; assist gift shop staffers; and work with members of the Wildside Walkers fitness program.
