Description: Omaha native and actor John Beasley—a regular on the WB series Everwood—opened his nonprofit theater and workshop space in his hometown with the hopes of bringing theater to underserved audiences and helping students develop artistic talent.Beasley performed in his first theater production in Omaha, and pursued acting in community theater throughout college. After he raised his family, Beasley again began acting professionally, first in theater productions and then on television. Now, he regularly takes to the stage in his own theater, performing in such plays as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Come and Gone by Joe Turner, and August Wilson’s Fences, a show so popular it’s been staged more than once in the space. Though plays are the mainstay at Beasley, other types of performance also happen here, such as musical performance, gospel singing, and musical theater.Acting classes in stage and film for adults and children are offered on a regular basis. An updated schedule of shows and ticket information is available on the theater’s website.
