Shopping - Omaha Shopping

Omaha has lots of opportunities to shop. Locally owned boutiques—especially for women—decorate the scene in Omaha. Those, along with the national chain stores that Omaha has drawn in the past few years, have made the city a new destination on shoppers’ lists of places to visit.

Specialty stores focus on more diverse goods: used books, locally owned music with a great selection of local bands, and carefully stocked clothing and accessory stores.

Specialty food stores, farmers’ markets, and locally owned markets are all over Omaha. More often than not, consumers are after these locally owned places that carry locally produced goods. These shops do their part to give the consumers what they want.

A special Close-up section focuses on the singular pastime of thrift store and vintage shopping, for which Omaha (and Lincoln, too) are exceptional. People travel to Omaha from both coasts to find well-priced, well-taken-care-of beautiful examples of antique just about anything. Consignment, vintage, and thrift are all explored in this section.

Omaha has a wealth of aforementioned chain stores, big box stores, and national clothing and accessories retailers. Almost everything detailed here, though, is locally owned, operated, and appreciated.

Overview

In these pages, you will find listings for a variety of shopping opportunities in Omaha. Of course, it would be impossible to list everything, so instead this list is curated. It provides examples of the best, most unusual stores in the city—places that stand out from the rest. Many national chain stores aren’t listed here but Omaha has them: Target, WalMart, K-Mart, and dozens of others. These stores, along with hundreds of other mall stores and big box outfits, can be found with a quick Google search; Omaha, especially has been a magnet for chains like J. Crew, Sephora, and other high-end stores in recent years.
