Getting Here, Getting Around - Long Island, New York

Getting Here, Getting Around

While Long Island has some heavily populated areas, it’s primarily very suburban, composed of small to medium-size towns. So, depending on where you want to go within Long Island, driving is probably the easiest way to get to your destination, though taxi, town car, or limo services are available (but potentially costly).

From the major airports, scheduled and door-to-door shuttle buses and shared vans are available to various Long Island areas. Or, if you’re coming from or going to Manhattan (New York City), train service, provided by the Long Island Railroad, is a very popular mode of transportation, particularly among daily commuters.

Mass-transit bus service can get you around Long Island, but these buses tend to be less convenient, due to the fact that they make frequent stops and have very defined routes.
