Description: Established in 1797, this is the premier hotel in town. When you enter the lobby, the rich woods and deep pile carpets give you a good feel for the hotel’s quiet elegance. There’s also a historic English pub on-site—McClellan’s Tavern, which has a turn-of-the-century mahogany Van Tromp Bar imported from Brick Lane in England. The Gettysburg Hotel is featured on the Historic Gettysburg Walking Tour (see the Attractions chapter), and it’s also listed on the National Register of Historic Places and on the Historic Hotels of America for the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
