Description: This branch campus of the Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) was opened in September 1999. The school is located within the North Gettysburg Shopping Center, and 100 parking spaces in a designated area are reserved for students. The facility features a library, classrooms, three state-of-the-art computer laboratories, a hardware repair lab to facilitate hands-on training in PC repair and testing, an Allied Health–equipped training classroom, a student multipurpose room, and offices for faculty and staff. A new expansion began in summer 2008 with plans to add a bookstore, a coffee shop, and more comfy space where students can gather. It will also expand the existing wireless Internet network and enhance classroom technology and lab equipment. HACC employs an open-door admission policy, which allows high school graduates, GED recipients, and individuals 18 years or older to attend regardless of their educational background. The Gettysburg branch offers 23 associate degree, certificate, and diploma programs; credit and noncredit courses; and customized employee training programs for business, industry, and other organizations. Some of the associate degree programs are defined as transfer programs, geared toward students who plan to complete their education at a four-year college. Other associate degree programs are designated as career programs, and these are for students wishing to complete school with a two-year associate degree. About a third of the programs require taking some classes at the main campus in Harrisburg. A full range of student services are available at the Gettysburg campus, including placement testing, advising and counseling, financial aid, career planning, and student activities. HACC–Gettysburg Campus has formed a partnership with the Adams County Tech Prep Consortium to develop industry-driven curriculums to guarantee local high school students a seamless secondary and postsecondary and technical education that can be completed in Gettysburg. Current programs include Allied Health technology, computer repair technology, and the culinary arts.
