Description: Although not as large as the other more well-known airports in the area, Harrisburg International Airport unveiled a new state-of-the-art terminal and multimodal transportation facility in 2004. The Y-shaped terminal has 12 departure gates, and the first floor of the transportation facility, which is connected to the terminal via a climate-controlled sky bridge, houses the rental-car ready/return lot. Seven airlines service HIA: Air Canada, AirTran, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, and US Airways. (See the sidebar for airline phone numbers and Web sites.) Airport amenities include food concessions, a restaurant that serves drinks and classic American fare, and a gift shop. The entire terminal is wired for free wireless Internet access, and there’s an observation deck on the third floor for watching planes arrive and depart. The following companies provide rental cars for HIA travelers, and their kiosks can be found on the first floor of the transportation facility.
