Description: This outfit began operations in the summer of 2005, and it can team you up with a licensed battlefield guide who specializes in bike tours of the park. You’ll travel on two wheels to see Little Round Top, Devil’s Den, the Peach Orchard, the Angle, and the High Water Mark. GettysBike arranges everything for you, including, of course, the bikes. The tours last approximately 2.5 hours and cover 8 miles of the park. If you want, you can rent the bikes for additional time after the tour for reduced rates and explore the park on your own. All rentals include a helmet, and all bikes are equipped with bottle racks to carry a drink. Escorted trips to the highlights of the battlefield that are led by one of the GettysBike employees are also available. Or you can simply rent a bike from them and explore on your own. Children 41/2 feet or taller who are competent on a bike may ride on their own, and toddlers and small children may accompany a parent or guardian on a trailer carrier or trailer tandem (child trailers that attach to an adult bike). GettysBike is open Wednesday through Sunday beginning at 8:00 a.m. and on Monday and Tuesday by reservation only. The cost to rent a mountain bike is $8 per hour or $40 per day for an adult and $5 an hour or $25 a day for a child. A tour with a licensed battlefield guide is $61 for an adult and $26 for a child, and reservations are requested.
