Description: The North Charleston Coliseum reverberates with very vocal ice hockey fans who pack in to watch the Stingrays do their thing each season from Oct through Mar (even later if we make the playoffs). The team’s loyal fans turn out in the red, white, and blue team colors and average more than 7,400 in attendance for each home game. The Stingrays, affiliated with the NHL’s Washington Capitals, are in the Southeast Division of the East Coast Hockey League. In 1997 they ascended to the top of the heap by winning the ECHL Championship and the Kelly Cup. Again, in 2001 and 2009, they won this title. During intermissions, mascots Cool Ray and Li’l Puck keep the kids entertained. And when the frozen stuff has melted, the children come out to enroll for in-line hockey camps scheduled all summer long. The excitement never fades with the hockey crowd, so call for more schedule and ticket information. Tickets range from $14 to $21. Coliseum car parking costs $5.
