Description: Held every four years in late May and early June, this world-renowned piano event bears the name of the famous Fort Worth artist who helped warm the hearts of many international foes during the Cold War. More than 100 applicants perform for juries around the world to claim a spot in the international competition. Contestants are auditioned in China, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, New York, and Fort Worth, and about 30 are invited to the Fort Worth event. Classical music lovers in the city can buy tickets to attend performances. The next competition will be in 2013.
