Description: Each April winos, foodies, and beer lovers flock to the Houston Press’s Menu of Menus Extravaganza. This popular 1-night event celebrates Houston’s vibrant restaurant industry with samples from dozens of the city’s best restaurants, as well as wine, beer, and spirits tastings. There’s also live entertainment, a cash bar, and the opportunity to meet some of the city’s most esteemed chefs. Participating restaurants and bars vary from year to year; each year’s participants are featured in the Houston Press’s free Menu of Menus supplement, which hits newsstands a few days after the event. Menu of Menus has been held at several different venues over the past few years, so call or check the website to find out where it’s being held. General admission costs $40 if you purchase tickets in advance; admission costs $50 at the door. For $80 you can get in an hour early to sample signature dishes and gain access to the VIP room, which offers top-­shelf liquor and pricey bottles of wine. Menu of Menus tends to sell out, so purchase tickets online in advance. All proceeds benefit local charities. Liquor flows freely here, so you must be 21 or older—and have a valid ID to prove it.
