A range of activities are held at the Commander’s House, a historic facility built in 1883 as the living quarters for the Commanding Officer of the Texas Arsenal. Classes here range from painting to guitar to ballroom dancing. Defensive-­driving classes are offered on the last Mon and Tues of every other month. The facility also sponsors free blood-­pressure checks once a month. For a minimal charge, participants at the center can purchase lunch every Tues, Wed, and Thurs.
