City: Richmond, VA
Category: Education
Telephone: (800) 229-2990
Address: 3401 Brook Rd.

Description: With roots that go back to 1812, these two venerable institutions officially joined forces in 1997 after working alongside each other educating ministers and lay people for most of the 20th century. The seminary’s name is due to change to Union Presbyterian Seminary soon. Though most of the more than 300 students pursuing graduate degrees on the Ginter Park school’s historic 56-acre campus are Presbyterian, students and faculty from many denominations are represented here. A recent guest lecturer spoke on “A Buddhist View on the Art of Dying,” as part of an annual series devoted to religious understanding and interfaith dialogue. The beautiful, quaint campus is anchored by the beautiful Morton Library, a noted theological library.
