Child care center is operating within the scope of its health permit. This childcare does not require a food safety manager. This center does not conduct any food teaching activities.Cold holding units checked OK and noted < 41 F. Chlorine test strips on site for chlorine sanitizing. Reviewed with operator to monitor use by dates for dairy. Practice using the first in; first out method of rotation. Director is considering taking food safety course for initial certification in 2016 year. No food observed being prepared at time of inspection. Celebratory food consists of baked goods and fruit. Discussed with director that parents are acting as agents on the behalf of the childcare center. Baked goods made at a private residence or store boughrt may be served at center. Be aware of baked goods that require temperature controls such as cream cheese fillings or whip cream.

[1] Thermometers provided and conspicuous Observed missing thermometers at reach in refer next to 3 year old room and in both upright freezers. Thermometer missing in cold holding units. Ensure all refrigeration and freezer units are stocked with a conspicuously placed thermometer in order to monitor unit temperature.* Refer in kitchen next to 3 year old room temped at 45 F with health inspector thermocouple. Operator lowered thermostat at time of inspection. Please monitor temperature to ensure cold holding is at 40 F or lower.
[1] Non-food contact surfaces of equipment and utensils clean Non food contact surfaces of equipment dirty. All non food contact surfaces of equipment must be clean. Please wipe down and clean inside of green metal kitchen cabinets adjacent to 3 year old room. Remove items not used in the operations of the business and declutter items stored in drawers and cabinets. Clean gaskets at refer in kitchen next to 3 year old room. Clean all handles to drawers. Clean all visible soil from cabinets and drawers in kitchen next to 4 year old room. Create a cleaning schedule for routine deep cleaning of these areas.

Repair the following area(s) to maintain a smooth; durable; and easily cleanable surface. Please replace the linoleum in the kitchen next to the 4 year old room. Flooring is in poor repair and is missing in several areas.

[2] Food protected during storage; preparation; display; service; transportation Recorded temperature of apple juice temped at 49 F. Children's lunches are stored in the cold holding 2 door upright refrigerator. Discussed with operator to have parents provide a cold pack for perishable food in children's lunches. Lower thermostat in refer to cold hold at 40 F or lower. Do monitor fridge for proper temperature. Use a cold holding chart to monitor and check temperatures daily. Center is serving cut fruits such as apples and oranges. No cooking projects are being conducted at center.
[2] Accurate thermometers; chemical test kits provided; gauge cock (1/4" IPS Valve) No chemical test kits available. Must provide chemical test kits. Observed no chlorine test kit for chlor tab used at center. Reviewed with operator proper makeup of bleach/chlorine sanitizer. Use one cap of bleach to one gallon of water. Test sanitizer to be at levels between 50-100 ppm.

General Comments that relate to this Inspection Center serves dried crackers; granola; cheese and vegetables.Center must not serve the following fruits and vegetables:1) Melons; watermelons; canteloupe; etc2) Tomatoes3) Leafy greens (cut; shredded or torn)Do acquire separate plastic containers or tubs to do 3 step cleaning process. Chemical test strips for chlorine also need to be acquired. All items must go through a wash step with detergent and water than followed by a rinse step and than a sanitizing step. Makeup of chlorine sanitizer consists of 1 cap of bleach to 1 gallon water. Test sanitizer solution to be at levels between 50-100 ppm. All food service equipment such as cups; plates and cutlery must go through 3 steps. Center does not do any food teaching activities. Please contact health inspector with any changes to snack menu. Cut fruit and vegetables may be served in center with approved support kitchen permit. This support kitchen will be assigned a risk category 1 faciltiy. Offical health permit to operate will arrive in mail via USPS; please post on site. OK to operate; OK to issue health permit. An annual inspection will be conducted within 90 days and this inspection will be unannounced. Please call health inspector with any questions.
