Dunes Beach

Dunes Beach at Half Moon Bay in California has been considered one of the best beaches in the state. There is a bit of a hefty parking fee at $10, but the fee helps to keep the bathrooms clean and the area well maintained. The beach underwent a restoration project in order to restore some native plant life and get the beach cleaned up. There is an area for walking along the beach on a trail, as well as down by the water. The beach is not often populated, which makes it worth trying out.

There is also a little paved bike and running trail for those who want to get around a little faster. Several local restaurants are nearby, which makes it easy for one to get a meal before sitting around the beach all day. Dunes Beach is part of the California State Park's beaches, which is another reason it is well maintained. There is no camping at Dunes Beach, but Francis Beach nearby allows for camping. There are rangers and lifeguards on the beach during the summer season. Temperatures range from the 60s and up in the summer, and around the 40s in winter.
