Manchester Beach

Manchester Beach is a five mile stretch of beach in Point Arena. It is a popular camping location and many campsites are privately owned and occupied most of the year. Campsites range from basic to full RV hookups. There is a KOA camground in the area. The beach is boarded by Alder Creek and the Garcia River. The rivers in the area are commonly enjoyed by visitors who kayak, canoe and ride horseback along the shores of the beach. Those who enjoy outdoor fun that is a bit less rustic than camping can golf at The Sea Ranch, just south of the lighthouse. The beach is part of the Manchester State Park which features sand dunes and flat grassland areas. The beach has a curve and creates a catch basin for debris and driftwood. The two streams are often the main reason visitors come to the state park. In addition to beach and river sports, visitors can enjoy hiking among the colorful wildflowers, watching the area sheep and cattle graze nearby, or enjoy an outdoor picnic before or after other activities. Temperatures in the area are extremely moderate and rarely go higher than 72 or lower than the 50's. The rainy seasons is long and lasts September to May, so prepare for wet hiking or camping if you are enjoying your time in months other than the heart of summer. The area is extremely windy year-round, which can affect the comfort of visitors.
