1. Overland Sheepskin Company

City: Yountville, CA
Category: Shopping
Telephone: (707) 944-0778
Address: 6505 Washington Street

Description: If it once bleated, you’ll find it here. Overland’s Jim Leahy began making sheepskin coats by hand in Taos, New Mexico, in 1973. Now the family-owned company sells its woolly wear at 13 locations around the nation, including this locale in Yountville. Try on the sheepskin slippers, or sit on a stack of amazingly plush rugs. Almost everything is 100 percent sheepskin, from the car seat covers to the coats (even the lining). Overland sells leather goods made by other manufacturers, including Australian outback dusters, hats, footwear, and water buffalo bags from India.

2. V Marketplace

City: Yountville, CA
Category: Shopping
Telephone: (707) 944-2451
Address: 6525 Washington Street

Description: Careful on those cobblestone walkways in your spike heels. This is technically a shopping center, but it’s small, quaint, and historical. Constructed in 1870, the building was once part of the Groezinger Winery complex and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Enough about the past. Today it’s a collection of galleries, fashion boutiques, home decor options, a children’s store (Hansel & Gretel), bridal and evening couture (Vianett), and the latest addition, NapaStyle (see next entry). When you’ve cased out all the shops, stop in for ice cream at Cups & Cones and peruse the silly toys and trinkets. Be sure to browse for wine at V Wine Cellar, then grab a bite to eat at Pacific Blues restaurant, just outside.
