GEORGE’S - Nightlife - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Category: Nightlife
Telephone: (225) 343-2363
Address: 2943 Perkins Rd.

Description: The original George’s, situated by the I-10 Perkins Road Overpass, has both character and top-drawer food and drinks. It’s a great place for anyone seeking a late-night snack. There’s a friendly bar that serves mixed drinks, wine, and beer. The current owner, City-Parish Councilman Rodney “Smokie” Bourgeois, said the spot was named for a previous owner. When you enter the oddly shaped building, you may be told that the structure lost a section when I-10 was constructed through this part of town. There’s a tradition here that satisfied customers will staple dollar bills to the ceiling—be sure to look up at the signed bills. George’s was honored for having “the best burger in town” by 225 Baton Rouge magazine, but it has a complete menu including fish, steaks, salads, desserts, and great seafood gumbo. Dishes are cooked properly with only fresh ingredients. While Perkins Road is the original, you also can visit three other George’s in the area.
