Description: The gorgeous Carmans River flows directly through this park, which offers hiking, camping, picnicking, freshwater fishing, rowboat rentals, canoeing, and hunting. On the land, you’ll find an abundance of pine and oak trees. The park encompasses about 1,356-acres and includes a massive campground facility suitable for both tents and trailers.

Description: Among the activities offered here are horseback riding, hiking, biking, canoeing, picnicking, fishing, and hunting. Outer beach access and RV camping sites are also available, as well as a gift shop. In terms of historical attractions, the park features a Spanish-American War exhibit and the Third House, which was originally occupied by cattle ranchers who worked the region. It was later used as the headquarters for Camp Wikoff during the Spanish-American War. Camp Wikoff is open to the public May through Oct, Wed through Sun, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Description: Located at the very top of Bald Hill, which is among the highest points on Long Island, this monument was constructed with the help of the Suffolk County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Committee back in 1991. The monument was designed to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of all Vietnam veterans, including those who died, those who were wounded, and all of the men and women who served their country during this war.

Description: Visitors enjoy hiking and picnicking at this park. It also features Jayne’s Hill, which is Long Island’s tallest peak, reaching an elevation of 400 feet. The park is known for its nature trails, including the Walt Whitman Trail. Camping is offered here, but only to organized youth groups. Within the park’s main visitor center, called Sweet Hollow Hall, organized children’s activities are offered. There’s also a playground, meeting hall, horseback-riding paths, and a dog run.
