Description: If you want to take a step back in time to view the wealthy lifestyle of shipping tycoon George Flavel, be sure to visit the Flavel House. This Queen Ann Victorian-style mansion was finished in 1885 and from its three-story octagon tower you’ll have outstanding views of downtown Astoria and the Columbia River. When you tour the inside of this magnificent house, you’ll find winding staircases, Persian rugs, 14-foot ceilings, and exquisite fireplaces. You’ll also find clothing displays, artwork, and other household items from this opulent era. The Flavel House is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May through September and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. October through April. The admission price is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and AAA members, $2 for children ages six to 17, and free for children six and under. This admission fee also includes entrance to the Heritage Center Museum and the Upper-town Fire Fighters Museum.
