Description: The Seaside Historical Museum has many informative displays that document the history of the Seaside area beginning with Native American artifacts and moving on to displays from the 19th century. An antique print shop display demonstrates how newspapers were printed at the turn of the 19th century, and a display of century-old fire fighting equipment shows how firefighters equipped themselves. Next to the museum is a beach cottage display called “The Butterfield Cottage.” This cottage is a wonderful restoration of one of the original beach cottages in Seaside at the beginning of the 19th century and gives you a feel for what it was like to live in a beach town in a simpler time. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday mid-March through October 31. From November 1 through mid-March, the museum is open noon to 3 p.m. daily. The admission charge is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors age 62 and older, $1 for students, and children under the age of six are admitted free.
