Description: Tillamook Cheese factory makes some of the finest cheddar cheese in the world. Tillamook County has a mild climate and plenty of moisture to support large herds of Holstein, Guernsey, and Jersey cows that produce fresh, sweet milk. When you visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory, you can get a first-hand glimpse at how the cheese is actually made. A glass viewing area lets you watch the master cheese makers at work. In addition, you can learn about the history of cheese making in Tillamook County. This facility also makes high-quality butter, ice cream, and cheese spreads. If you want to taste-test some ice cream, visit the ice-cream counter, or if you want to purchase their products and take some souvenirs home, check out the gift shop. The Tillamook Cheese Factory is located 2 miles north of Tillamook on US 101 on the east side of the highway. It is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. October through May and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June through September. Admission is free.
