Lakeside Park and Garden Center

At Lakeside Park, located close to downtown Oakland, visitors can take a break from the bustle of the city to enjoy various activities, including a Garden Center with unique amenities.

The Garden Center, which is located in the center of Lakeside Park, includes a Japanese botanical garden, koi pond, and a comprehensive herb garden, which make it an ideal location for event rental. Amenities at the Garden Center include an industrial kitchen, upright piano, and coat room. The Garden Center has three rooms for rental which accommodate from 50 to 300 guests.

Also at Lakeside Park, the Children's Fairyland enchants youngsters with storybook settings, making literature come to life. Children can also enjoy rides, animals, puppet shows, and live entertainment.

Those visiting at night can experience the crown of lights, also known as the "Necklace of Lights," that surrounds the lake. This feature was added to the area in 1925 and consists of 126 lampposts and 3400 bulbs.

At Lakeside Park, visitors can enjoy a gondola ride, a boathouse, Golden Gate Bonsai Collection, or the Children's Fairyland. A short distance away from the lake area, tourists will find other attractions, including the Paramount Theatre, the Camron-Stanford House, and Oakland Ice Center. Lakeside Park and Garden Center are located less than 10 miles north of Oakland International Airport.
