McKinley Park

The McKinley Park is located in Sacramento and is one of the best parks in the area, according to Sacramento locals. The rose garden is one of the main attractions of the park and future improvement plans will add a walkway, planter curbs, an automatic irrigation system, a rose garden map, a drinking fountain, bench improvements, and accessible parking spaces. The garden is one and a half acres and was created in 1928. It features more than 1,000 rose bushes, tree roses and annuals. There are number of award-winning varieties in the garden. In addition to being a great attraction for locals and tourists, it is a popular destination for weddings and seasonal parties. The park can be rented from the city and requires an insurance policy, but is still a great bargain when it comes to reception venues. There is an indoor space in the park that makes weather a non-issue, even for important celebrations. Among the roses is a duck pond, large grassy expanses, a jogging trail, and a kid's play area. While some of the parks throughout California have deteriorated over the years, McKinley is still strong and a pleasant environment to bring your family. Visitors can feed the ducks, geese and pigeons in the park, but feeders are advised not to feed bread. Bring corn, koi food, or duck pellets if you want to help the wildlife in the park.
