The Davis Arboretum

The Davis Arboretum is part of US Davis Campus in Davis, California. The Arboretum offers 100 acres of gardens for recreation and contemplation. Each of the plants is documented to help teach, as well as help in research. The exhibits on display provide information regarding certain plants and research. Guided tours are offered at the Arboretum, as well as courses for students and independent studies. Plant sales occur throughout the year to help pay for the Arboretum.

The Arboretum is open 24 hours a day for the entire year. The office running the place is only open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Parking is $6 per car on weekdays, free on Saturday and Sunday. For recreational enthusiasts there is a 3.5 mile loop for hiking, walking, and biking. Peter J. Shields Grove leads to a lawn, in the western section, for picnicking and games. Picnicking is available at Putah Creek Lodge and Redwood Grove as well. Dogs are welcome at the Arboretum, but they must be on a leash. There are chances to see some natural wildlife within the park.

The tours of the gardens are free and led by docents. However, group tours are $8 per person or $5 per student.
