User-submitted facts and corrections:

  • In your list of Ancestries of Mount Pleasant, you did not mention Native American ancestry though there are 2.2% of them living in Mount Pleasant. Why? added by Anne
  • Millpond Park (omitted on the park map) is perhaps the largest park in the City of Mt. Pleasant and includes walking trails (Paved) and benches within the boundaries of the millpond that once was center of the city. The early 1900's saw the millpond used for lumbering, ice farming, and recreation. It's demise resulted from 'rerouting' of the river by mill owners to provide water directly to the mill races which caused the silt to fill in the 'pond' area. Today the park and it's walking trails are a valued recreational area with great opportunities for bird watching, especially during the migratory seasons. added by Don R
