It was such an iconic place. Since the 80s or before, you could find the sweaty masses there, scrounging up sustenance after a night of debauchery, alongside a skinny rich lady buying something for brunch…because she didn’t know what a stove was for.

I have such good memories of going there for lunch with my docent friends from the art museum. I always got the avocado and pepper bacon sandwich. Many of those ladies are gone, and so is the Market.

Now I live in Savannah, and we have a Fresh Market. It’s kind of reminiscent, complete with Root Candles, but nothing can compare.
