We're not talking about a simple infection here, we're talking about a deadly virus that's new, we don't have any immunity developed in our bodies against this, it's new, keeping it out if possible, is paramount.
People are dying with this all over the world, first line of defense has to be doing everything possible to keep it out of our system.
How many in the world do you believe really work on a strong immune system? Limited amount I'd say. The two major countries with the major virus are heavy smokers...this builds a strong immune system?
I guess this needs to be stated. One main purpose of the immune system is to protect us from viruses. A healthy immune system recognizes the difference between body cells and alien cells.
Remember, 80% of infected people have either mild symptoms or are asymptomatic. People with underlying conditions are at higher risk for worse outcomes because of weakened or otherwise compromised immune systems. Washing hands and avoiding crowds doesn't guarantee we won't get the virus. Improving the immune system is a win-win. Most people are at home now with little else to do so this is a convenient time to take advantage of it.
Taking those *extra* precautions mentioned in the OP right now, hand washing, etc., is prudent because so many people have weakened immune systems. A healthier immune system is important not only for now but for after this blows over. We will be healthier overall and for longer.

And as it takes time to develop a healthy immune system, months or years of health living and eating, would not it make sense to try and keep the virus at bay by sanitation and avoiding crowds?

I wholeheartedly agree with OP here, immune system is the most important issue in this all. All we hear out there is keeping distance and sanitizing.

This is correct.
Not all people are capable of a good immune system, no matter how well they eat, or sleep etc. this is why it is important at this time to try and avoid being overtaken by Covid-19, so Hand-washing and social distancing are imperative.

I haven't seen any evidence from either traditional or conventional medicine that there is no short term gain from the listed healthy ways to strengthen the immune system.

You can't prevent a virus from entering your body. You can only reduce the risk. Washing hands reduces the risk but doesn't prevent you from getting sick. Avoiding crowds reduces the risk but doesn't prevent it. Avoiding crowds is more about minimizing the number of infected than it is about protecting you. If one person in a group of 10 is sick, potentially 10 people get sick instead of 100.
Better to equip the body to fight it as it is designed to do so that you can survive it.

Extremely dangerous? C'mon. Read the last paragraph of the post you quoted.
In case y'all haven't noticed, this is the alternative health subforum. I guarantee you that everyone here knows when to wash their hands and many other ways to reduce their risks of illnesses --- as well as many ways to treat them.
It's as if the rest of the country is just now finding out about washing their hands.
