Kingman and surrounding areas (Bullhead City, Golden Valley: for sale, crime, buy)

Hi gang ( I use that term loosely)

Looking at possibly leaving Wyoming, and we are leaning towards the Kingman area. I work for the railroad, and would be working out of Needles. In a nutshell, we moved from SoCal to Wyoming in 2010 for my job, but now she misses family, and would like to be closer, but I'm not keen on heading back to SoCal, and its high cost of living, and other issues.

First thing, is I have no school age children (all grown) so not concerned with schools.

Cooler temps are the main reason I would like to check out Kingman, since it's bad enough, I'll have to work in the heat.

My wife is an avid horsewoman. Is there any equestrian activities in the area? Arenas? Rodeos?
Are most horse properties located in unincorporated areas?
If there are any horse people on here, where do y'all buy hay at? I assume, being the desert, there's no growing hay, or pasture land.

I am a car guy, and have a 69 Camaro, so I already know the car scene will be much, much better there, than it is here, in Wyoming.

I live right out of town on a city lot, but I know there are areas for sale with acreage just out side of town. There is a place called Stockton Hill Feed & Pet that I think sells horse feed also Tractor supply. Best wishes to you!

I'm really quite surprised at how affordable property with acreage is there, unless, the places are not in very good condition or the areas they're in are not very good.

Tons and tons of alfalfa is grown along the Colorado River south of Bullhead City, and further south.
Property is priced according to demand, I'd avoid Golden Valley....choose carefully.

Yes, I was reading on here about GV. Doesn't seem quite as favorable.

There are lots of horse people in town. We had friends with horses right in town, possibly in an unincorporated area (it's hard to tell in some areas). There were a couple of tack shops in town when we lived there.

You'll meet lots of classic car buffs in town. Once a year they shut down main street for three days for the Street Drag Races, complete with Christmas trees (starting lights) and bleachers. Check it out. Kingman Street Drags - Kingman, Arizona

Any areas of the city or outside the city to stay away from?

I imagine horse properties are going to be mainly in rural outlying areas.

Any issues with water? Most places out of town have city water, or well water, or does it have to be hauled in?

I lived in kingman for 5 years after retiring, and moved to bullhead for safety and something to do. There is nothing in kingman.
Kingman sucks in general. Drugs/crime etc.

If you will be working in needles. I would suggest bullhead city ft Mohave or Mohave valley. Most of the horse property is south of bullhead city.

It is hotter in the Colorado river valley but there is no snow and it rarely drops below freezing. and there is the lake, the river, the desert and Laughlin with the casinos, car shows, buffets, entertainment,etc.
