Which suburbs do you believe have the worst infrastructure?

Riverdale, Conley, a lot of places on the south side the roads are like driving on a cheese grater.

Hard to say the worst because I just haven't been to a good portion of them.

Coming from the north, 5 years in and I'm still getting used to the lesser infrastructure of the south. Non-buried power lines, stoplights not on poles, sidewalks that end for no reason, 2 lanes roads that should be 4, lack of parks, etc.

I'd say Alpharetta, with its strong corporate tax base, is one of the BETTER ones.

I live in east cobb and notice a general lack of parks and sidewalks in places.

Perhaps I've been most disappointed in some of the exurbs that have had the benefit of knowing better on their side yet still didn't plan ahead. Places like Cumming, Canton, Cartersville, Locust Grove, etc. These places are constantly busy even on weekends, have near constant semi traffic, and would just be a nightmare going to the store or gas station.

What part of the north are you coming from? I'm asking because specific places in PA, NY, and Southern Maryland have some of the worst road infrastructure that I've encountered. We just recently drove through Philadelphia and Chester PA. The roads were absolutely horrible.

Regarding metro Atlanta, I would agree with most posters about the southside suburbs having the worst infrastructure.

The way that he worded his statement isn't representative of the north vs. south. Although MN is north of GA, most of us would call it a midwestern state. Also, southern states infrastructure outranks most of the northern states and while MN currently ranks #1 as the state with the best infrastructure, GA isn't too bad at #15. I'd also like to highlight that no state in the NE ranks higher than GA.

Moreover, GA ranks #1 in business infrastructure and construction. Hopefully, the current infrastructure bill will cause improvement across the country.

Eh, with all due respect I have to respectfully disagree. I've never seen the infrastructure between the D.C. and Boston area anywhere in the south. From Los Angeles all the way to Miami. Not a slight to ATL, it's just not like the NE in terms of transit and infrastructure in the south. That doesn't necessary mean super wide freeways or streets, but they do have a tendency of having alternate ways of getting around. For example all of the Parkways in the D.C. / Philadelphia / NYC / Boston area that act as alternatives to Interstates (they are grade separated and not meant for trucks.) as well as an out right better mass transit system -- As for Minneapolis, I wouldn't rank it better than ATL in mass transit atleast, but the city road system is built kind of like DFW is, multiple ways to reach one place. Same for Chicago.

I'm visiting ATL for a week and I do have to admit I forgot how difficult it is to get around due to the traffic.. ..but I will say that its a trade off for the forestry and maintaining the lush look of the metro area.

There was nothing to disagree with. I'm a Maryland resident now, I'm telling you that the overall road infrastructure in PA, NJ, and NY is much worse than the Atlanta area. You can't group the south because places such as Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee have better infrastructure than Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina. The common belief for many is that the South has the worst infrastructure across the country as a whole, but many sites that rank infrastructure by state always have GA, VA, and TN near the top. Infrastructure isn't identifiable by region.
