If we are talking about location here, I think Fernbank is doing Great in it's mission to be a Natural History Museum.

Richmond can pull that off and Atlanta can do no better than what looks like a suburban elementary school?

What began as a semi-interesting premise has turned downright tacky. Obviously there is no good reason to relocate La Musee, so this thread needs to be put out of its misery. Let's move on, n'est pas?

Would never think about moving it. Maybe build another museum.

You can have another museum along Piedmont Park. I don't think it would ruin the park.

Cental Park, Balboa Park etc etc. The museums are a great value add.

Well the area has Fernbank AND the Tellus Museum in Cartersville. They really don't need another natural science museum.

This idea is very interesting and easily plausible.

This nice thing about this plan is that it would draw in even more tourists to the core and provide a huge draw in opportunity for urban core dwellers.

Not sure whether it should go in Centennial or Piedmont parks, but the idea of a world class venue is awesome.

Centennial probably is better, just not sure where to put it; maybe demolish the New World Place and put a more modern design, there.

FWIW, the "Suburban Elementary School" was designed by Graham Gund Architects.

Following master planning and designs by the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based architectural firm, Graham Gund Architects, ground was broken in 1989, and on October 5, 1992, Fernbank Museum of Natural History opened to the public. The new building is carefully located behind a row of historic houses, and features a glass-enclosed atrium overlooking Fernbank Forest. Fernbank Museum now stands on 65 acres (260,000 m2) of the largest old-growth urban Piedmont forest in the country.

We're not exactly slumming it here.

I've never been impressed by the museum's contents, but the building is very, very nice.

Maybe the OP is confused about the Fernbank Museum of Natural Science vs. the Fernbank Science Center on the opposite side of the Fernbank Forest?

Anywhere but North Midtown. I live here and the traffic is already bonkers.

I don't think the Museum needs to be relocated. It's a Natural History museum after all, and what better feature to have for such a place than an expansive outdoor exhibit with walking trails? Wildwoods is one of the best parts of the Fernbank.
