The visitor's clubhouse in Candlestick Park was located underneath the rightfield stands. Visiting teams had to make the trek from there to the dugout along the foul line. It of course became a right of passage that all Dodgers would receive a heavy booing whenever one or more was making the trip, and no one was booed more heavily than Tommy Lasorda. It would reach its most viscous if Lasorda had gotten himself thrown out of the game, and having to run that gauntlet out to rightfield.
Candlestick's last year was 1999, and at the end of the season the Dodgers were in town. Lasorda hadn't been the manager since 1996, but someone, maybe Lasorda himself, got the idea in his head to invite Tommy to take one last trip from that rightfield clubhouse to the visitor's dugout and back. It was promoted tongue in cheek as "one last chance to boo Tommy." I saw Larussa interviewed before it happened and it was clear that he expected that the walk to the dugout would feature good natured booing, but the walk back would be a sentimental farewell to the long time worthy opponent, and he'd finally be cheered at Candlestick.
The walk out went as expected, all sorts of abuse was heaped upon Lasorda. And the return trip? Just the same, he got the crap booed out of him.
A lot of fans blaming Kinsler for the loss and calling him the new Buckner. Rubbish. Kinsler's play is not like Bucnker's was so the comparison is not fair. Nor is it fair to blame him for the loss. The bats went cold last night (top 4 hitters went what? 0-28?). It was a very close game that could have gone either way. Evoldi was amazing out of the pen.

Hopefully they can get a win tonight.
+1.....
Kinsler owned the error but it sure would have saved Evoldi about 60 pitches and would have gotten a win!
