Believe me, I know a lot about baseball. Why do people want him to stay up here if he isn't hitting. Send him down to work on his hitting and put Turner on 1st.

Mets didn't lose any ground last night. ( 24-21) They are tied for 3rd with the Marlins and only 2.5 back of the Braves. At this time last year, the Mets were 22-25 and 6.5 games back.

Of course you do. That's why I'm waiting in rapt anticipation for you to show me how the look on Davis' face is representative of his baseballing abilities.

Turner is about as horrible as Rottino.

Why not let Davis 'work on his hitting' at the major league level?

Davis is hitting more line drives this season than ever before
2010 16%
2011 17%
2012 19%

He's hitting home runs at a rate consistent with his previous seasons
2010 12%
2011 17%
2012 15%
Home runs per flyball is a decent indicator of how hard a player is hitting a ball.

He's hitting a few more ground balls and infield flies than he has previously. That's of some concern but BABIP looks to be the problem. In 2010 and 2011 Davis had a BABIP of around .325. So far in 2012 his BABIP is just .188.
I'm sure this is just pie-in-the-sky on my part, but I have this potentially ridiculous belief that baseball is perhaps something more than just a lot of stats on paper--or a computer screen.

Here you present "evidence" (which belongs in quotation marks) that Ike Davis isn't really doing all that badly. And yet if you look up from the stat sheets and actually watch him play, it's hard to argue with the contention that he needs to be taken out of the lineup.

Go ahead, run off some more stats to "prove" I'm wrong.

Turner is better than Rottino. You really think Turner is terrible?

I agree-Davis should stay with the club. His variance from his likely year end BA is no BIGGER than Wrights in the opposite direction. Roughly 12 hits separates him from a .250 average right now. He was a tad streaky his first year; power hitters often are.

Now I do think a smaller swing would help him, as it did Wright, but the latter was not done at AAA. Davis should also work on it at the MLB level.

Add in the fact he is IMO a future gold glove winner.

That would be a ridiculous belief. Not sure why'd you mention it though since no one here has suggested such a ridiculous thing.

Go ahead and present your own evidence (quotation marks or otherwise). It shouldn't be too difficult to get some pictures of Davis' face in 2012 to compare to Davis' face in 2010/2011 so you can educate me on the differences and how to properly read them.

I've made my case. Your turn.

Turner is probably a bit better than Rottino. But, he doesn't have enough bat to play first and his defense isn't good enough to play anywhere else.

R.A is going for his 7th win of the season. Lets go Mets. With a win today, the Mets will be 6 games over 500. The first time in a couple of years.

He isn't the player like Davis is. Davis had a good game yesterday. Lets hope it continues.

What a game by Dickey. He is now 7-1 and the Mets are in 2nd place in the division and 1st in the wildcard.
