Time for the Astros to head to Arlington for a weekend series. Houston must retain its momentum, but they've been a very good road team the past few years. We shall see how this upcoming series plays out.
And it's expected that Mr No-No, Ronel Blanco , will be the starter in Sunday's nationally-televised game.
The Astros will try to rebound tonight against Atlanta after a tough loss last night. We needed momentum after winning that Rangers series, so the time is now for Houston to get back on track. Altuve is hitting lights out. And Joey Loperfido continues to tear up AAA pitching. It's only a matter of time before he gets to The Show.
And as far as Josh Hader goes, let's not panic yet. He's been inconsistent at times, and last night was not one of his better outings. Let's give this thing some time here.

I see that Houston is going to send out Hunter Brown tonight. This will be one heck of a test for him mentally after that disaster last week.
Alright, here's where it stands: The Astros are 6-14. They can't win in extra innings, and they haven't since that new extra-runner on second rule. Their top three in the batting order had a golden opportunity to get a walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth today vs. Atlanta. They went three-up, three-down. Bullpen coughs up another lead. Jose Abreu's defense is outright atrocious. And, to top it off, they got swept at home again, this time to the Atlanta Braves.
Houston is 4-9 at home and just 2-5 on the road. Yuck. And now, they've got another road trip after a day off on Thursday as they head for D.C. to play the Nat-nals. This team had better get a grip or they will be far behind by the first of May.

I realize that they have a lot of $$ tied up in Abreu but how much longer can they keep him in a lineup with a .078 average and no sign of getting any better. And with his having become a liability at defense, why not just platoon Singleton and Diaz at first. Adding in the fact that the top of the lineup is great at adding runs when they are not needed and seems to disappear in the close games and hitting is a mess (not to mention how McCormick has seemed to have lost his way at the plate).
Starting pitching is a bit of a shambles due to injuries and the bullpen is just a shambles period.
I'm not sure if there is one aspect of the team that could inspire any confidence at this point. Dusty Baker has got to be feeling that his retirement was timed perfectly.

Verlander is about to come back, so we'll see if it becomes a pick-me-up for the team. As I mentioned previously, a name to watch in the Astros system is Joey Loperfido. He could easily succeed Abreu at first base. His bat at Sugar Land is sizzling hot right now.
Folks, the wheels are starting to come off in Houston. The Astros are definitely in a rut now. They can't win at home, and now, they can't win on the road. Dana Brown must make some important personnel decisions in the coming days. The team's play has got to improve. Incredibly, despite an atrocious 7-19 record, they're only six games back of the Rangers in the AL West.
Astros came away last night with a resounding victory in Mexico City over the Rockies. An offensive explosion, badly-needed. They play a matinee this afternoon.
