Blue Jays might be the biggest disappointment teams for the 2013 season, wouldn't you agree?
That would depend upon one's expectations before the season began. They made a splash and raised hopes with their high profile deals during the off season, but people got all enchanted simply by the fact that they did make a big splash. What they were actually doing was gathering some players from a team which had been stinko in '12, the Marlins, and adding a 38 year old pitcher who just had a fluke season out of sync with the rest of his career.
Certainly it's disappointing to Jays' fans. Yeah, expectations were sky-high - in retrospect, too high. Injuries aside, it takes some time for a team to gel when 14 of your 25 weren't there last year. Factor in a spring training where the World Baseball tournament kept several members away for lengthy periods and a slow start might have been expected.
I still think they're going to make noise this season but if they're still under .500 at the all-star break, it'll be as spoilers, not contenders.
Still spinning their wheels. But at least Morrow and Reyes should be back within 7-10 days. Lind has been unconscious at the plate, going 21 for 47 in the past 10 games.
Still waiting for these guys to reel off a couple of longish win streaks. It'll happen but I hope they're not just playing the role of spoilers when it does.
I do believe I'm seeing signs of the awakening of the Beast of the East.
But you won't catch me saying it out loud.
Nossir.
I ain't jinxin' them.
