Now, according to Skip Bayless, the forward is healthy enough to play but he doesn't want to take on the court just yet. "From what I've heard, the Pelicans team doctors have cleared Zion Williamson to play in these playoffs games. But Zion's independent team of medical people says he's only 99%, and they don't want to completely clear him until he's 100% ready to go. So, team management is increasingly at odds with Zion's stepfather. And they just believe that the stepfather, with the advice of the medical people on their side, is holding Zion back from playing." Bayless adds that Zion's stepfather isn't happy with the Pelicans because they keep saying they can waive Zion every month if it's the best of their interests. Moreover, he's not the only one unhappy with this decision, as the rest of the Pelicans players also have grown frustrated with this situation. "The Pelicans players are not happy with Zion in particular, because they're fearing he's getting the wrong advice, as a young player, that is messing with his mind. They think he should just suck it up and stand up to both his stepfather and his medical people and just say, 'no, I feel great, I'm going to go ahead and play.'"
The days of a Willis Reed hobbling back on the court for his teammates is long gone...
Pelicans should trade him. Get someone more dependable with perhaps a slightly lower upside.

Whats the value for him at this point? What percentage of games did he played in his career? Maybe 2 firsts? His big contract plus his injuries is the main issue.
Pelicans are done, cj McCollum is old and short. That trade from portland was going to give them a extra boost to maybe win a chip along with ingram.

You are tough! IMO, McCollum still has some good years left. 2 or 3 years at best, though. He did give them a boost but other players have been injured. Zion, Ingram, Nance, Alvardo, etc. have been out at least a third of the season. Injuries happen but their window is getting smaller to become a contender. They may have to trade assets to get draft picks and start over. That sucks. Zion is particularly frustrating. He teases you when he's on the court but he can't stay on the court.

Cj is 32 at the start of next season. He can score but his size is a big issue. Being undersized and aging is a major issue. Alvarado is small. Having a shot of the championship requires higher standards. All the little weaknesses adds up in a 7 game series against elite competition.
