Didn't see a dedicated thread so I made one.

Let's start with a proposed performing arts center on Jefferson next to Towne Center.

I'm tired of all the emphasis being in the suburbs for the past 30 years.

Really , the existing Performing Arts Theater , The River Center , two Casinos , Arts and Science Center , USS Kidd Museum , The Shaw Center , all downtown . Not to mention all of the festivals that go on there .

That is what a downtown is for. In that case, would sure hate most other cities..

You can't confine all of the amenities to the downtown area . Simple as that .

You can't confine all of the amenities to the "South Baton Rouge" area. Simple as that.

Is there a difference?

mod cutOther than a few BREC parks , what has the city/parish built in SBR ? Do you expect the private developers to build shopping malls downtown ? They are pretty much out of room as it is , and most of the growth is to the south . mod cut Downtown BR will never be like Atlanta or even that city by which all others are compared , Austin . There's a lot of reasons for that and economics is just a small part of it .
