My husband is an engineer at NASA, works on ISS stuff so I think he has something on the ball.

He hasn't lived in B'ham since 1989.

The answer is....there isn't anything about B'ham that people always think of when the city is mentioned. You said it yourself. It's OK. There are plenty of cities that don't have that "one thing". So just embrace it and quit acting like its something it isn't.

That about sums it up. What he is or does is irrelevant.

Show me where I said that. I don't care that some people need to think of a "Dollywood" before they come to a city. There are plenty of people who come here for golf or racing or history or any of a dozen other reasons that don't need such gimmickry.

Sounds to me like your feelings are hurt and you're trying to box me in to the typical hater mentality that is pervasive through some of the people that troll this board. I know what my city is and am proud of it. I don't care if people like you have blinders on and their mind made up and don't want to see it.

It's clear that some posters on here actually believe they are the vessel of all knowledge even when they come off as obvious crackpots and boneheads. After all, it's the internet you know. As a Birmingham native, I've seen these intolerant lunatics up close and personal for years and years. They have simply migrated to another narrow existence in cyberspace
Hey, maybe you can sign up as NASA scientist next. Don't think you've done that one yet.

Athens is part of the HSV MSA, but I don't know of anyone who considers Athens as "part of Huntsville".

All the counties are "their own county." That doesn't mean anything. Talladega is a Birmingham area event. Sorry. It isn't open for discussion or debate.

I've never seen a sign or anything proclaiming "Welcome to Birmingham....home of the Talladega Super Speedway!"

That's because it isn't in Birmingham.

Exactly, it is specific to Talladega, not Birmingham. Closer to Anniston actually.
