It sounds exciting. I am looking at living in the burbs when we do move there but all this regeneration of the downtown area sounds great.

That is a cool video showing aerial shots of not just 20 Midtown, but a lot of the new development near the city center. It mentions that 20 Midtown is a $115 million development (???). Where is that number coming from?

I thought the same thing... However, the developers did say that it will end up covering several city blocks. Maybe they are talking about future plans as well? Although, I've never seen a figure for that.

Perhaps they are including the other phases/projects that well face it on the adjacent blocks.

Schmalz said the first phase could require a $10 million investment and the overall project is expected to take at least $50 million, but Schmalz said "it could easily double that" amount.

Obviously not worthy of the restaurant thread since we have these already...but a good fit for the 20 Midtown development I think.

I think it's absolutely worthy of the restaurant thread. 1. Because I'm obsessed with the place and have eaten there several times a week for years. Tired of driving so far to get to one. 2. Because I think, like Publix, this is a good sign of the rebirth of downtown. Chipotle is one of the companies that doesn't just locate to any old downtown.

Yes, I like Chipotle too and I think it an Starbucks are a perfect fit. This development will more than likely have a few more surprises before it is all said and done.

Alabama has sent officials from all corners representing the major metros trying to court airline manufacturing jobs. Hopefully Birmingham wins in getting the Kaiser property developed.

I'd hang my hat on being the premier automotive / aviation manufacturing state any day. Cmon Aston Martin.
