Franklin Park Franklin Field, Blue Hill Ave, etc....unless you "fit in" , you don't want to live there. Stay away.

So-so. Waldeck street is borderline between bad and good. It is close enough to Wellesley Park which is a really lovely and quiet place tucked away from the hustle of the big streets but it is also rather close to Geneva Avenue which is not a safe street, especially at night. It's not easy to say. It is very convenient though being near two rapid transit stations (Fields Corner and Shawmut).

Don't know the street specifically, but that area is the less desirable part of Dorchester--close to Blue Hill Avenue, Geneva, Bowdoin and other trouble spots. With a few exceptions, areas west of Dorchester Ave. generally aren't very nice, and that neighborhood is way west of Dot Ave.

Not sure if anybody watches this thread anymore. I am considering purchasing something in the area just north of Ashmont Station. If you look at a map, there's a triangle formed by Talbot, Welles and Dorchester Aves. I was hoping to get some opinions of this triangle and I guess areas pretty much in all directions of this triangle. I will have a dog, so long walks will take me thorough other areas and I want to make sure I have safe places to walk through. Many thanks.

Beantown boy, very few members of the City Data forum community have that kind of very local knowledge of Dot. If you're local you'll find out a lot more by walking around and asking people about the neighborhood.

Actually if you look at pretty much all the posts in this thread by TomDot and Urban Peasant, they are very specific down to streets. All I did was describe a neighborhood in detail rather than simply saying "north of Ashmont station." I was just hoping one of those two (or someone with similar knowledge) were still on these boards. If you ask me about neighborhoods west of Boston, I can pretty much give you all the detail you need to know. Oh well, was worth a try.
