With climate change things like this will become worse over time not better. I don't have huge hope we'll be able to prevent a lot of what is going to happen as a result. We're too entrenched in our ways. The very nature of this thread sort of underscores that. Pointing fingers and saying the other guy needs to do more instead of saying what can we all do.

As has been pointed out, borders are useless when it comes to this. We are one planet and if we don't act like one people on one planet the future is more bleak than bright. Given the state of world affairs and emergence of nationalism, paranoia and distrust of one another - yeah i'm cynical. This isn't to say i'm not grateful for all the help been provided by other nations, it is wonderful, but I just don't think it is enough given everything that is happening to our planet.

I do feel bad for all those impacted by this, regardless of jurisdiction.

I read today that the Arctic is now expected to be free of summer ice one decade earlier than predicted.

A paper published Tuesday in the journal Nature has concluded that those northern waters could be open for months at a time as early as 2030, even if humanity manages to drastically scale back its greenhouse gas emissions.

It’s depressing.

Does Canada make occasional controlled burns as a means of wildfire prevention?

If elected President, Donald Trump has vowed to set the northern US border on fire and position giant fans to blow smoke back into Canada.

I'm kidding!

I'm very sorry to read the news of what's happening with our neighbors to the north. As someone who lives in a state in the U.S. that experiences year after year of wildfires, you all have my sympathy. Please, protect yourselves. Stay indoors, if you can. Even a few minutes outside is so damaging to your lungs. And if it's at all possible, get an indoor air purifier. They help somewhat. Keep your pets inside, too. Their poor little lungs can't handle this. All of you up that way, your firefighters and all emergency personnel are in my thoughts.

Yes we do, but my guess in mainly in areas where it could affect human lives.

However, Canada is too vast that it would be impossible to control burns in very remote areas.

For BC
