Last I looked he is getting slaughtered in the polls. The chickens are coming home to roost.

From yesterday...

A new poll shows more than half of Canadians think Justin Trudeau should step down instead of run in another election. Hear the response from Edmonton’s only Liberal representative.

As said upthread, he's the lesser of the other known evils, he offers better than any of the other leaders do at this time, but I wouldn't say he's popular. He's controversial, he's sometimes intriguing, sometimes takes people by surprise to keep people on their toes. He's frustrating and annoying and undiplomatic at times and funny, sensible, encouraging and diplomatic at other times. The influence of his father Pierre is evident in him. He's young enough to be in touch and responsive with the wants of the younger 40 and under crowd, and he's old enough to still support many of the old traditions that the older crowd appreciates.

I don't believe he has caused any notable division in Canada. Certainly no worse divisions than many other Prime Ministers or political parties have caused. But I guess different people's milage will vary with regard to what they think divisiveness or popularity means to them. Some people are going to be miserable all their lives no matter who is Prime Minister, and some people have their heads in the sand all their lives.

I really like Justin.....please no booing!

In November 2015, Justin made headlines when he appointed half of his cabinet positions to women, honoring a campaign promise of having a gender-balanced cabinet.

His solid progress has been demonstrated in women's representation and leadership.

He still is popular with some of us.

Hard to be anti Trudeau when this is the alternative.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=y4nhifpVftA Calling Trudeau “Marxist”, sound anything like the rhetoric from a certain bronzer wearing politician to our South? Conservatives really blew it by removing O’Toole. They’re not gonna have a chance in Quebec or the Maritimes with this guy leading

I wonder if Poilievre considers the Chart of Rights and Freedoms a Marxist document as well:
Quote:
(Pierre) Trudeau spoke on television in October 1980, where he announced his intention to constitutionalize a bill of rights that would include: fundamental freedoms, such as the freedom of movement, democratic guarantees, legal rights, language rights and equality rights.

From a FB post done by Meanwhile in Canada.

I can't find a link for the editorial cartoon and I can't post it because of copyrights, but the cartoon is of Trump in the Oval Office, with Harper at the door looking down at the Canadian Flag doormat, that has footprints on it.
Trump says to Harper " Don't forget to wipe your feet ".

The post goes on

"This brilliant old cartoon from Michael de Adder came to mind when I heard Mike Roman, Harper's IDU assistant chairman, was indicted with Trump in Georgia. The IDU exists to help rightwing parties around the world get elected (by any means it appears now). Poilievre's Conservative Party of Canada is an official member of the IDU and Stephen Harper is the Chairman.
Mike Roman came to Canada and helped Andrew Scheer in 2019, and promoted the convoy/occupations in 2022 along with Poilievre - which cost the Canadian economy over $3.9 billion!
Harper was photographed leaving Trump's White House in 2018 after a meeting which he did not disclose to the Canadian government. A highly unusual thing to do.
Let's not forget Harper got a majority government in 2011 by a slim margin after illegal calls to progressive voters went out in ridings with tight races that falsely claimed polling stations had been moved. There were other dirty tricks in the weeks leading up to that election as well.
Harper's Assistant Chair, Mike Roman, served as director of Election Day operations for Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, and was just charged by a state grand jury with seven counts including racketeering conspiracy and conspiracies to commit forgery, to impersonate a public officer, to commit false statements, and to file false documents.
Roman’s role as one of the chief implementers of Trump’s plan to organize slates of so-called fake electors in battleground states has been well documented in investigations by federal authorities and congressional probes.
The old Progressive Conservatives with honour were chased out of office in Canada years ago. The Conservative MPs now are just Harper's Reform Party, ICU affiliates who flirt with extremists and conspiracy theorists.
Be cautious. Extremism is on the rise and Canada is not immune."

Anyone who doesn't think that PP and co aren't getting advice or even their marching orders from US right winged hacks, are fooling themselves.. The new Cons are not the old Cons, and IMO are a danger to Canada.
