Read the title of the thread. The topic is surgery.
Regardless of the title, this thread is about the measures taken by Alberta on a wide range of gender identity and affirmation issues and how they relate to minors. This includes but is not limited to surgery.
It's most definitely not about nicknames kids use for each other between themselves in the schoolyard.

Sometimes changes huh? LMAO. Imagine if this caught on and it became a trend to change genders every few weeks.
Rae Canavan-Lebeuf said she fears what the policies will mean for the future of all 2SLGBTQ+ Albertans. "Not only is this bill going to affect trans kids, it's going to affect everyone," she said.
I agree with the medical experts. They say, and it's true that

"No one in the province under age 18 has had bottom surgery so Smith seems to be creating an irrelevant issue, said Ladha, also an assistant professor at the University of Albe"
"These therapies that we’re offering below the age of 18 are reversible. Hormone therapy is reversible. It’s being framed as something that is harmful, when in fact, in my clinical experience, it has been quite affirming and positive for youth and children dealing with these issues.”
"No trans youth have travelled to other provinces for bottom surgery, said Wong, a pediatrician at Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.
“Across Canada, there are strict guidelines, generally, on this particular surgery for pediatric patients. It’s pretty much prohibited.”
I think many are just being played. We know she must love right wing style politics. Heck she had Tucker Carlson visit. One of the most annoying ignorant sh*** disturbers out there. The right in the US made this an issue, because they have NOTHING to offer. So get people riled up, and the politicians look like they're doing something. Embarrassing really.
This topic is doing exactly what the pretending to care politicians want it to do. Divide people, and keep your focus off of what they aren't doing.
I also agree with medical doctors. No matter what lgbtq activist tell you, the science is far from settled on these matters. Danielle said she has looked at what experts are saying in several places. Also people with no kids shouldn't try to impose their ideology and lifestyles on others.

Canada is now going against the grain on these matters. Other developed countries have already put a pause on this and are being more cautious. Puberty is a natural part of life, blocking this natural process isn't right and we don't know what the long term effects on people are uncertain. Lets stop making kids guinea pigs.
How about if the kids wait until they reach their age of majority (19 y.o.) to be able to legally change their names and identities, when they're considered adults who can go to work and support themselves and are no longer dependent and the legal responsibilities of their parents, no longer being on their parent's medical/dental coverage and no longer being housed, fed, clothed and otherwise dependent on their parents for their welfare and well being? What's wrong with that? What's wrong with waiting to age 19 to be fully independent in ALL aspects of their lives including calling themselves by whatever names and pronouns they want to call themselves?

You're making this something that it's not. This is not about a kid legally changing his or her name. This is about a kid having a nickname at school and the Government forcing the teacher to tell the parents. I recall back when I was in school a several students who went by nicknames, I don't recall the teacher telling a parent. Now this fun aged old tradition must be stomped out by do-gooders like so many other fun things to do. "Hey kid looks like you can't play dodgeball or give yourself or others a nickname!"
Now it's all about making a kid feel feel as terrible as possible. It's like a kid has a nickname he likes at school, he must be bad and needs to be punished. No darn wonder kids are getting more and more depress.
