I have some delinquent credit card debt and the score surely does not look good. It is shocking for me to find that most apartments in Charleston require a credit check.
I have a good job and steady income to pay the rent. Is there any apartment that does not look into my credit? I just feel so distressed in this. Any helpful advice will be greatly appreciated.
I doubt you will find any that do not check credit. If it is only one card, you may want to be up front with the landlord about the situation and let them make the decision.
You might have better luck with a landlord that has just a few units, maybe someone renting half a duplex, than a large complex with a management company. Maybe you could offer additional security deposit, 2 months instead of 1 for example.
I agree with snorpus, you should try one of Charleston's smaller apartments. There are literatly hundred to choose from! Maybe somewhere outside of town might not check your credit, like in Pinch, Elkview, Sissonsville, ect...
Tell them you're a politician. They'd think you'd fit right in.

Actually that is a good idea, and tell them to send the bill to the local Morgantown government. It is so common in Charleston nobody would question that.
Charleston is full of bums and meth addicts. That is why they require credit checks. Biggest ghetto in WV.
All I didn't know that South Hills, Kanawha City, Fort Hill, Mink Shoals, East End Historic District, and Edgewood were Ghetto! Obviously this person is interested in moving to Charleston, so I wouldn't insult them by claiming they're interested in a Ghetto place!
I think Sunnyside in Morgantown is the biggest dump in the world!
As for credit checks, I'd just check with the property owners and I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem. Charleston has some really nice apartments, and I'd look around because there are some good affordable places that are close or even in downtown!

Sunnyside is a dump because it is student housing. They dont want nice houses. They want somewhere where they can party and wreck all year long. Nobody in there right mind would build a nice apartment in Sunnyside, and the students there dont go there for good apartments. It is funny you can name one area of Morgantown as a ghetto, and only in the sense that the apartments are bad and the area is loud, not because of crime. Ironically Sunnyside is nicer than 50% of Charleston.

Most of Charleston is tree lined middle class neighborhoods! Only 2 real ghettos are in Charleston and both are slowly growing out of that phase! Charleston has the wealthist areas in WV, including South Hills, Lower East End, and Kanawha City's upper end!
Sunnyside has all the crime you can fit in one area, I don't have to name another because Sunnyside is the biggest dump in any WV city! For one it stinks, two the houses are torn apart and trashy, and third the stupid college students that live there bring crime drugs and worse into that neigborhood! Westover isn't the most beautiful place either, enough for me to classify it as a ghetto! Another might be right beside the stadium where you can see trailers and ugly apartments all scattered on the hillside! You know its bad when there is a trailer park right beside the stadium!
