Too many variables -- how you gonna get details on the kind of cars that are actually garaged in a town? Lots of folks in the "rarified air" have multiple homes and what they keep in the "Lake Geneva garage" vs the "Lake Forest garage" is going to have an impact.

So too is there great variation in what percentage of homes are true "mansions" vs merely large estates -- Kenilworth tends to have former while Mettawa the latter.

Highest average income is also tricky becuase without going into the statistics of distribution (mean, median, mode, RSD, SEM, Kurtosis, ESD, etc) there is no way to know how many rich families live in a place vs one insanely rich dude throwing one really small town into the stratosphere.

In terms of highest income, I believe it's Kenilworth.

There's tiers of wealthy even when it comes to the suburbs. For instance, Burr Ridge, by all means is a very wealthy suburb with a lot of affluence. But it doesn't hold its own against suburbs like Kenilworth on the North Shore.

Barrington Hills held the title for many years. Be careful of median household income vs per capita. The latter figure would be lower if family size in a certain suburb were larger.

Really? My staff that works for me is from Burr Ridge. I just assumed it was some random burb in the land of burbs. That kinda explains a lot, haha.

Yeah, Chicago60614, it explains why you have such generalized ideas about a suburbia of 8 million people. :P

Kenilworth does take the cake, but Burr Ridge, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, also top the list of the "elite" suburbs.
